Staycation, Destination Dallas

3 day weekends are the best, especially when you can get out of town for a few days. But what if you want to stick close to home?

I’ve always been a fan of “dating your city”. There are so many cool things to do in Dallas, but if you’re a native (or even if you’ve just been here a while!), there’s a good chance you’ve overlooked them. I decided to take a closer look at all the cool things to do in Dallas so on the next long weekend, we can stay and play in Dallas!

Hotel ZaZa

Small, uber-chic and located in one of the coolest parts of the city, Hotel ZaZa is the definition of a boutique hotel. With themed suites and private bungalows, ZaZa is perfect for an in-town getaway. Even if you never left the hotel, you’d still have a great time. Dragonfly restaurant has a fantastic menu and The ZaZa pool is to die for. It’s definitely the place to see and be seen. You can hang with the cool kids at the pool during the day and then head back down after dark to party. If you’re there on the right night, you might even see a celebrity or two! If you need a little R&R, make sure you visit the ZaSpa! And if you decide to head out on the town, ZaZa offers a 5 mile courtesy shuttle. A stay at ZaZa is worth it just to ride in the SUV with the longhorn skull on it!

The Joule

In the heart of Downtown, The Joule is one of my favorites. If you’re into art (or even if you’re not) you will LOVE The Joule. With a rotating art collection displayed throughout the hotel, it’s one of the most beautiful hotels in Dallas. They have an incredible spa and it’s right next to the Dallas Arts District and the flagship Neiman Marcus. You’ve also got immediate access to tons of incredible restaurants and bars – Americano, CBD Provisions and Midnight Rambler. And be sure to get coffee from Weekend Coffee … after you sleep in, of course!

Nylo is located on the south side and it’s across the street from one of my faves, Cedar Social. Nylo is also walking distance to the Southside Music Hall, the Dallas Farmers Market, and the Alamo Draft House, which makes it the perfect destination for a low-key bachelorette weekend. Their infinity pool has one of the best views of the Dallas skyline in the city. It’s breathtaking! But if swimming isn’t your thing, you can always hang out on the patio and enjoy yummy drinks at the bar. And if you just can’t bear to leave your fur-baby at home, bring him along because Nylo is pet friendly!

The Mansion

The Mansion is the definition of Dallas luxury. It’s located in Turtle Creek and was originally the estate of a Dallas cattle baron, so it’s truly a Dallas institution. Super-bougie, but it’s definitely the place you want to stay if you’re doing “Old” Dallas. From poolside rooms to 2-story suites, The Mansion is how you go first-class in Dallas! Plus, The Mansion Terrace is one of my favorite places to drink rosé on the patio, so it’s perfect for a summertime staycation.

This is just the start of my Dallas staycation recommendations and now that you know where to stay, next time I’ll tell you where to eat! If there’s anything else you want me to cover, let me know so I can add it to the list. Enjoy your Memorial Day!
