As some of you know, I grew up in Fort Worth and although I am a Dallas girl now … Fort Worth will always have my heart. Now if there’s one thing I know about Dallas residents (and Fort Worth as well), people are hesitant to cross the county line. But trust me. There is plenty to do in Fort Worth and I promise you’ll have a blast! Besides, Fort Worth is only a 45 minute trip from Dallas so spending the day in Fort Worth day is just right!
Start with brunch at Taverna in Sundance Square.
Sit at the bar and tell Tammi that I love her! Grab a bellini or mimosa, split a yummy pizza or omelette and enjoy! (Taverna’s Website)
Next, head over to the square.
Sometimes they have live music and there’s usually a ton of people hanging around enjoying the weather! You could even sit on the patio at Del Frisco’s Grille or Bird Cafe and have another mimosa or bloody mary!
Now that you’ve fueled up, you’re ready to see some sights.
Hop on over to the Kimbell Art Museum. Not only do they have great exhibits, the museum is gorgeous, as well. It’s definitely a Fort Worth staple.
If you want to skip the art museum and outside is more your thing, bring your four legged friend and take a walk on the Trinity Trail, followed by a cold beer at Tim Love’s Woodshed.
If I didn’t suggest Joe T Garcia’s, I wouldn’t be a true Fort Worthian. So find an ATM and get some cash because they don’t take cards. Have a Tino’s Special (It’s a secret margarita. You can thank me later!) and enjoy the best scenery in the state of Texas. Tell Mr. Joe that I sent ya!
If Mexican ain’t your style or you want something a little bougier, you HAVE to start off your evening at Grace. They have the most beautiful bar and delicious cocktails (the Seven is my favorite) and on Wednesdays they have “Wine Women Wednesdays”, so who can hate that? After Grace if you’re in the mood for steak, you have to go to a Cowtown Favorite, Del Frisco’s Double Eagle. It is literally second to none and you will see all of Fort Worth’s finest there on a Saturday night!
Blue Sushi is my other favorite – super funky and fun for girls night or date night. It’s located in the West 7th area and super convenient to the nightlife!
And speaking of nightlife…
You HAVE to kick the party off at Chimy’s in West 7th. I don’t care who you are, you have to go and enjoy a Chilton before heading out! There are a ton of bars down there so just pick your poison (Reservoir, The Local, Landmark, etc)!
After hanging in the Fort all day, you’re probably ready to head home but don’t leave before stopping by Taco Heads! You’ll need a taco fix for the ride home!
