Out and About with Five Star Subaru

I’m almost afraid to say it because I don’t want to jinx it, but … I think it’s Spring! At least for the 10 minutes we have Spring in Texas! And Five Star Subaru is celebrating with 2 fun community events.

The first one is this Saturday (March 24th) from 9-11am, at Summit Climbing, Yoga & Fitness in Grapevine. If you’ve been following my health and fitness journey, you know it can take some time to find your workout groove. Every workout isn’t for everyone and if you don’t find a workout that you enjoy, you’re probably not going to stick with it. And personally, I get better results when I change up my regular routine. I’ve never been climbing but I’ve seen the results in the arms of a few friends and I’d definitely be up for trying it!

The Grapevine Animal Shelter and Adoption Center will also be there on Saturday to help furbabies find new homes and Five Star Subaru will be having a car show. It’s going to be a family friendly event and hopefully great weather, so grab the kids and come out for some Saturday family fun!

Next up is the First Annual Rubber Duck Race. First, let me tell you where it is, because this place is really cool. If you haven’t been to The REC of Grapevine, you don’t know what you’re missing. The REC isn’t anything like the rec center was when I was a kid. The REC has an indoor aquatic center with water slides and a lazy river.

And about that lazy river …

Here’s how the Rubber Duck Race works. There will be 2000 rubber ducks “racing through” the lazy river. You “adopt” a duck (or more!) and they “race” in the lazy river. If your duck gets first place, you win $500! There are cash prizes for the Top 3 finishers and a couple of other fun awards for a few non-winners! Maybe the only time you get a prize for coming in last place! All the proceeds go to charity so even if you don’t win, it’s still a win for the kids who benefit from the Grapevine Rotary Club’s community programs.

The duck race is Thursday, April 5th, from 5-7pm and all proceeds will benefit the youth and community projects hosted by the Grapevine Rotary. Duck “adoptions” can be purchased through this link.

And, if you make it out to the race, you have to take pictures and post them because how fun is it going to be to see 2000 rubber ducks in a lazy river? Also, if you take your kids, I want to see their reactions too because who doesn’t love rubber ducks?!
