New Music Friday

Friday is quickly becoming my favorite day of the week. Of course it’s always been at the top of my list because Fri-YAY! But now it’s even better because it’s the day the new music comes out. Last year, the music industry transitioned from releasing new music on Tuesday and now it’s all about New Music Friday! And me on the Kidd Kraddick Morning Show talking about it!

Shawn Mendes – Mercy

This week marks the return of Shawn Mendes. His last album, “Handwritten”, went to #1 with the song “Treat You Better”, so there are high expectations! But I think he hit it. “Illuminate” is a more grown up sound and the songs are better. Plus, he got a lot of feedback from John Mayer while he was working on the album and it shows.

Ty Dolla Sign – Campaign

What can I say? It’s Ty Dolla Sign. And it sounds a lot like Desiigner’s “Panda” (No, that’s not a typo. Yes, there are 2.) But it’s still good. And he worked with a lot of big names on the album … Wiz Khalifa, Future, Meek Mill, Trey Songz … The list goes on. Definitely check it out.

Idina Menzel – Idina

I am SO excited about Idina Menzel, I might explode. You probably know her best from Broadway. She was Maureen in Rent and Elphaba in Wicked and she is at the top of my all-time favorite WCW list (except I’m crushing on her EVERY day!). And, there was that one time I met her and got to sing with her, which pretty much makes us besties. Basically, she can do no wrong. Except maybe playing CC Bloom in Lifetime’s remake of “Beaches”. But I’ll hold out judgment because it’s Idina!

Music That Makes You Cooler

JP Cooper – September Song

JP Cooper. British, dreads, eyes to die for and a voice to match. His sound is an amazing blend of soul/R&B with a bluesy/folksy influence. He is SO great! “September Song” is out today and it’s gonna be everywhere soon. Put him on your playlist now so when everyone else tries to jump on the bandwagon, you’ll already have a seat!

And now that it’s officially Fri-YAY, enjoy New Music Friday and the weekend!
