My Makeup Routine

IMG_9818

One of the things I get asked about the most is my skin and makeup routine. I wish I could say I have naturally beautiful skin and that like Beyonce, “I wake up like this”, but that is not the case. I have to work at it!

The biggest part of having beautiful makeup is having beautiful skin underneath your makeup. That’s why I use all Renee Rouleau products. That and never sleeping in your makeup!

This is my “no-makeup” makeup look, AKA what I wear to run errands or for an office day at the foundation. I don’t usually wear eye makeup with this look. I just concentrate on making my skin look flawless.

Before I start my makeup, I use Marc Jacob’s Under(Cover) Perfecting Coconut Face Primer. Primer is a must so that your makeup goes on smoothly. And I love Marc Jacobs because it’s very thin and not greasy. Plus, it smells amazing! Nothing is worse than a great product that stinks!

After foundation, I apply Tom Ford Traceless Foundation stick on my face. I do a line on my forehead, nose, cheeks and chin and blend it with my favorite Marc Jacobs Buffing Foundation Brush. It really does give a beautiful airbrushed look. I’ve tried a lot of different foundations over the years and the Tom Ford is definitely my favorite. It gives really great coverage without being too matte.

After applying my foundation, I apply concealer. I’ve always battled with dark circles and adding no sleep to that doesn’t help! Cle de Peau Beaute Concealer (in ivory) is my absolute favorite. It has won a ton of beauty awards and my mom and I swear by it. I apply it right to my face and then blend again with my Marc Jacobs foundation brush. Now I look like I slept for 8 hours! Woohoo!

After foundation and concealer, I use bronzer for a little color. I use the Bobbi Brown Bronzer Brush and apply Bronzing Powder by Tom Ford in Gold Dust. I use it on my cheeks, forehead and chin.

And that’s it! Unless I want to add a little more daytime glam, then I’ll switch things up a bit!

Sometimes I’ll do a slight contour. I use the Light Filtering Contour Powder Compact by Marc Jacobs, which gives me a very light contour. It’s perfect for when I want my features to look a little more pronounced but I don’t want to go full Kardashian.

I use the Shape Contour and Blush Brush by Marc Jacobs to apply the darker contour shade on my cheeks, upper forehead and chin. I use the highlighter below my eyes, down my nose and underneath the dark contour color with my Bobbi Brown Sheer Powder Brush. I then blend everything together with my Bobbi Brown Bronzer blush!

For blush, I use Tom Ford’s Cheek Color in Frantic Pink. I usually don’t like to do a ton of blush, just a light pink that I apply with my Bobbi Brown blush brush.

If I want a bit of a dewy glow, I use my Bobbi Brown Blush Brush to apply Tom Ford Skin Illuminating Powder Duo to my cheeks, brow bone and above my cupid’s bow.

Now for my favorite part – brows! Depending on my mood, how much time I have and how dramatic I want to go with the brows, I can use up to three different products.

I always start with the Tom Ford Brow Sculptor in Brunette. Always brush your brows out first and then use the calligraphy tip to darken. If you want a more precise brow, use the Bobbi Brown Brow Pencil in Brunette to darken them again. I also use the Dipbrow Pomade by Anastasia Beverly Hills in Dark Brown that I apply with Anastasia #7 Mini Duo Brush. The Anastasia products are great, and it just takes a little bit more time to do but if you have the time, totally do it!

Voila, that is the CC “no-makeup” makeup look!

When I’m going for a more glam look, I just add a little bit more of all the products and do a pretty eye. I love the Nude on Nude Eye Palette in Brown by Bobbi Brown. You can go natural or pump up the volume with the darker colors! I also LOVE the Le Metier Full Stream Kaleidoscope, because of the fun colors.

For eyeliner, I am ABSOLUTELY obsessed with the Le Metier Gel Eyeliner in Onyx and I wear it on the top and bottom water line. I have not mastered the art of applying Liquid Eyeliner (but I’m working on it), so this Gel Eyeliner is perfect for me. It is super creamy, yet dramatic and stays all day! I love love love it!

I have had lash extensions on and off for the last four years and I really love them. All women have their splurges they can’t live without and lash extensions are mine. It’s one of my biggest beauty secrets. I can leave spin and meet friends and not look totally tragic because the lashes add an extra oomph. So, because I have lashes, I don’t use mascara daily. But when I did, I was a Dior Show girl and loved it.

For lips, I’m addicted to the Kylie Lip kit right now. On a daily basis, I usually wear Koko K or Candy K, but if I’m not feeling a matte look, my go-to is the Tom Ford Indian Rose.

And there you have it! All of my makeup faves in one spot. Speaking of all your makeup in one spot, I need to rave about my GlamBox it is an acrylic makeup holder that I literally couldn’t live without. It is the perfect way to keep your makeup organized and it is so convenient that you can see everything perfectly in your drawers. It shaves so much time off your morning so you don’t have to spend 5 minutes looking for your mascara in a sea of makeup in a makeup bag. GlamBox has graciously agreed to give my readers 25% off your GlamBox order when you enter in the coupon code “CAROLINE” when you check out! They also have bomb jewelry holders as well so go wild!

It’s a lot of products but don’t get overwhelmed! Start with one or two things to give your day-to-day look a little pop or go full on and change up your look completely. Whatever you choose, have fun with it and be the best version of you!

xo,

Caroline Cradick
