Makeup With Daniela

About a week ago, I did a Facebook Live with my fabulous makeup artist, Daniela Bell. There were tons of questions about the products that she used, so I thought I’d put it all in a single blog post for you to refer to!

But first, let me tell you a little bit about Daniela. She owns a studio in Plano called The Makeup Zone. She is the go-to makeup artist in Dallas. She does the makeup for The Morning Dose on the CW and the Dallas Housewives. If you need a fab makeup artist for a wedding or special occasion, definitely call her. She even offers a class personalized to you! To see some of her work, check out her Instagram.

MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation

A little goes a long way! 4 dots is really all you need and it provides really full coverage! My foundation shades vary depending on how recent my spray tan is (shout out Simply Glowing!) but in this video, Daniela used NC37.

MAC Full Coverage Foundation

We used this as a contour because it’s full coverage and glides on smoothly.

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer

Daniela mixed MAC NW20 and NW 25 together.

MAC Prep+Prime Fix+Finishing Mist

After you’re finished applying foundation, use this to set your makeup.

Chanel Loose Powder

And a little translucent powder to make sure there’s not too much shine!

Hot Mama Blush by The Balm

This shade is really natural and has just enough color to give a natural “blush” look. Plus, it’s super affordable and you can get it on Amazon!

Becca Opal Highlighter

Because highlighter is EVERYTHING!

MAC Prep and Prime 24 Extend Eye Base

Just a little will make your makeup last all day.

Sephora Pro Warm Eyeshadow Palette

Daniela loves this palette because it has some really pretty warm colors and the pigment is great. Make sure you don’t get the Editorial Color … unless you’re a pro and know how to use bright-colored shadows!

Inglot Black Eyeliner

Daniela loves this eyeliner because it’s a gel and it’s long lasting. She uses it a lot for TV because you can apply it on the tear line and it doesn’t smear. She uses the small shader brush to smudge/blend shadow below the lash line to soften the look a bit.

L’oreal Telescopic Mascara

Because I have lash extensions, I don’t usually wear mascara on top, but if I need a little extra something, I apply the L’oreal Telescopic Mascara to my bottom lashes.

Anastasia Brow Kit

Anastasia Beverly Hills Pro Brow Palette

Defined brows completely frame your face and this palette has everything you need to make those brows pop!

Daniela Bell Mink Lashes

In case there’s any question, I am super extra. So even though I have lash extensions, I will absolutely wear false lashes if I’m going super glam. Daniela has a line of mink lashes (the best of the best) and you can use them up to 25 times if you take care of them. And make sure you use a spoolie to blend the false lashes with your natural ones!

Perfect Poutz Gloss

The Balm Meet Matte Hughes Lip Color and Perfect Poutz Lip Illumination Gloss

Love this matte color by The Balm. Committed is the color we used that day and then topped it off with gloss from Perfect Poutz. This gloss is cruelty free and a brand that’s local to Dallas, so I love that!

Tips and Recommendations

We tried to answer your questions during the live video, but couldn’t get to all of them so here are a few of Daniela’s recommendations.

Foundation – If you need a long-lasting look, you can use more foundation than you normally do it, just make sure you blend it well.

Makeup Remover – Daniela is a fan of wipes to remove makeup. She recommends Neutrogena, Clinique and MAC. Garnier Micellar Water is another good one. No matter what you use, always remove your makeup!!

Anti-aging cream – Kiehl’s and Bye Bye Under Eye by It Cosmetics

Eyeliner – Instead of lining top and bottom, Daniela likes to pick, top or bottom unless you’re going dramatic. For bottom liner, she uses a tiny brush to blend shadow eyeliner.

How often should you clean your brushes?
Daniela’s a pro so she cleans her brushes after every client, but if it’s just you using them, she recommends once a week for brushes and every day for your blending sponge. Use 91% alcohol to clean your brushes and dishwashing soap for your sponge. I also use the Sigma Spa Mat and if you buy it from Nordstrom, it comes with a really great cleaner.

Brow Clean Up – Tinkle razors are great to use for clean up between brow appointments and you can use them to shave your face so that your makeup goes on smoother!

Lip Conditioner – Dry lips are never a good look so keep them looking good with Lip Conditioner by MAC.

You can purchase any of the products by clicking on the image and the video provides more details. If you have other questions, leave them in the comments because we’ll be doing more with Daniela soon!

xo,
Caroline
