Every Outfit Has A Story - The Pink Dress

There are certain pieces in my closet that I just love. Not necessarily because of how they look on me, but because of the emotional attachment. And that emotional attachment can make it hard when it’s time to get rid of things! Now, I’m not talking about that pair of “skinny jeans” I’ll never wear again or that one dress from high school I can no longer get over my hips. I’m talking about the clothes that have a specific memory attached to them. See, I have a theory … every outfit has a story.

But it’s more than just remembering where you were when you wore that outfit. It’s about the feeling you get when you recall wearing it. When I first started my blog, I did a photo shoot so we’d have some pretty photos to use. The pink dress was my favorite dress from that shoot and while it was one of my faves, I had no idea then what it would come to mean. In just a few months, this blog has taken me on an amazing journey. I’m doing things I never imagined and the pink dress is a reminder of where it all started and how far I’ve come. It almost gives me chills because I never would have predicted where it would lead me.

And then there’s the love. I started calling this dress my “love” dress after I realized it had become my go-to dress for “love” themed events. Bridal luncheons, rehearsal dinners, weddings … It’s come to represent the emotion for me and I “love” the way it makes me feel.

Plus, because I’m “that” girl, I have to share the love. I did just that by lending the dress to my good friend, Courtney. If you remember my Galentine’s Day party, you may remember seeing her wear it. I figured the dress had built up a lot of good love ju-ju by wearing it to so many bridal showers and weddings, so it totally made sense for Courtney to wear it to the Galentine’s Day bash …  Because she went from girlfriend to fiancée when her boyfriend proposed while she was wearing it! If that isn’t a good “love” luck, I don’t know what is!

So, if you needed a good reason to hold on to a few things you were thinking about getting rid of, now you have one! Of course every outfit doesn’t have a story. But the next time you start that big closet purge, and the memories start flooding back, don’t feel guilty about holding on to it!

Caroline
