Cheers to the Weekend - The Chilton

It’s the day you’ve been waiting for all week long – FRI-YAY! And whether you’re headed out or staying in, what better way to wind down from a long week than with a quick alcohol treat! Cheers to the weekend!

Now, I don’t normally do cocktail recipes on the blog because I’m usually cooking! But this is one of the go-to drinks I like to serve when I have friends over for cocktails.

The “Chilton” is a drink made popular at Chimy’s restaurant. The story goes that the drink was names after a Dr. Chilton, who was a big fan of the cocktail. If you went to Texas Tech in Lubbock or hang out at the Chimy’s in Fort Worth, you’ve definitely had a Chilton. It’s super easy to make and jazzes up the traditional vodka soda, my usual go-to drink.

The Chilton

The Chilton is simple:

Fresh lemon
Vodka (Tito’s is my fave!)
Club soda
Salt for the rim

Start by sliding a lemon wedge around the rim of a glass, and then dipping the glass in a plate of salt. Next, squeeze the juice of one whole lemon into the glass. Add one shot of vodka and top off with club soda! And that’s it!

Now, that’s the original but if you’re feeling fancy, you can switch it up with the Caroline Chilton. I’m Tajin obsessed, so I like to use Tajin for the rim instead of salt!

It’s that easy! And now you’re ready for cocktails with friends or a night in with Netflix! Either way, cheers to the weekend! Enjoy!
