Turning the big 2-6 is honestly pretty scary to me. It’s strange for me to think that I’m the same age that my mom was when she gave birth to me and the same age my dad was when he married my mom. The good thing is – I feel good things coming for my 26th year. There are some really exciting business and personal opportunities for me coming and for the first time since my dad passed, I feel confident and ready to accomplish them.
Birthdays in my family have always been a big deal since I was an only child so I always loved when April hit, I got the whole month to celebrate since my birthday is April 30th.
It’s so fun to look back at my birthdays throughout the years….
My 2nd birthday party was like most two year olds (with young parents) birthdays…a cookie monster cake but way more beer than cake.
I’m still just as ADD now as I was at four years old so for my fourth birthday I had a Beauty and the Beast themed party but I also wanted a petting zoo so I had a Beauty and The Beast Petting Zoo party…I’m sure you’ve heard of them 😉
My 7th birthday was one for the books and one that I will never ever forget. NSYNC were coming to town on April 8th, my grandma’s birthday and I wanted to go SOOOO bad but it was on a Tuesday (i told you I remembered every detail) so my parents said “no concerts on school nights.” So April 8th rolled around and I was still super bitter that I wasn’t able to see my boyfriend (JC Chasez) in concert. We were planning on going to dinner with my grandmother at Hibachi 97 (an Arlington favorite) so we were getting ready to get in the car to go to the restaurant when all my friends started showing up at the house. I was very confused as to why my friends were going to celebrate my grandma’s birthday with us but for some reason, I didn’t think much of it. So we get through dinner and the cake comes around and it is an NSYNC themed cake and I was FURIOUS that my grandma got an NSYNC themed cake….then I realized what was happening. My dad said “WE’RE GOING TO NSYNC!” I started sobbing uncontrollably and couldn’t believe my good fortune. We go outside to leave for the concert and there was a WHITE LIMOSUINE waiting for us and as a 7 year old in 1997, that was the biggest deal in the world. So we went the concert and had the absolute best time and screamed our little heads off but the coolest part was when we got back in the limo, my dad let us go through the McDonald’s drive through and order McFlurry’s! At 10 pm on a Tuesday! It’s the little things in life, right?
Although the years of big birthday parties are behind me I look forward to celebrating my life this year with my loved ones. I feel very thankful to be in the place that I’m in and have such wonderful people in my life. I don’t know what this year brings but I look forward to finding that out! Cheers <3
